I'll review this from start to finish. Showed up at the plaza at 12 thinking since it was raining, the restaurant would be less busy than usual. Nope, the plaza parking was packed and took me 20 minutes to find parking. Once I was able to put my name down, the wait ballooned to about 40 minutes. Hostess was nice and the waiting area had a couple amenities which I appreciated (fighting game arcade and some tea). Once we were called we waited inside for about 5-10 more minutes as our table was getting ready. It was cool seeing all the dry aged stuff in the front. We were a party of 2 and ordered off the gold menu. You get 1 round of special meat order and 1 special dish. We had the a5 short rib and the wagyu uni caviar nigiri. That nigiri was amazing. Shout out to our server Jason who recommended it. Jason also cooked the a5 meats so we don't mess up an expensive cut like that. It was cooked perfectly to our request of medium rare. We ordered all the tablet recommendations for beef and then some other ones. I'd say the wagyu steak was my least favorite. That just reminded me of a cheap chuck steak. Everything else was amazing though and lived up to the hype everyone else

Server Aspen made our experience at Chubby Cattle absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, they were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. They were knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations, and checked in regularly without being overbearing. Their positive attitude and excellent customer service really stood out and made our meal even more enjoyable. If you're dining at Chubby Cattle, I highly recommend asking for Aspen. Shoutout to Brian T and Eric H as well. Thank you for making our visit such a great experience!

My partner and I had the platinum menu, $98 per person. The service could have been better if the business didn’t incentivize the servers to sell their products/app. Warning: the servers will ask you to leave a review with their names at the end so majority of these reviews are fake. A lot of reviews say the servers will ask you to get their Chubby membership or ask if you have the app. This is a fact. Our server asked us if we’re interested in getting the membership at least 5x and that is not an exaggeration. The pitch they give you is: - a free plate of premium meat of some sort - some gift cards to their partner restaurants - being told the membership pays itself off with just one visit - the value of their “offer” is over $350!! - they’re the branch with the best offer! They spent more time attempting to sell us the membership over actually trying to engage or provide service. The amount of times they asked, “Do you have the app?”. Yes we already have it. “Are you interested in the membership?”, no, thank you. With the platinum menu, you get 2 “special” plates per person from the platinum and diamond menu. Food was very good but a tad pricey. Service was top tier. Be sure to ask for Josh! Love the decor, but the self service area needs more space!

This place opened recently, and I decided to give it a try after seeing so many great reviews on TikTok. I’m happy to say the hype is real. The quality of the food was outstanding, the service was attentive and friendly, and the ambiance was on point. Everything felt well thought out, from start to finish. Easily one of the best Japanese BBQ experiences in OC. Highly recommended.
